DeKalb Schools - HOPE Eligible Data for 2017-2018 School Year

I am not sure if I posted the HOPE Eligible data for the 2017-2018 school year on my previous blog.  This data is reported by the Governor’s Office of Student Achievement (GOSA), a great resource of data surrounding the public schools in the State of Georgia.  The Downloadable Data can be found at the following link:  https://gosa.georgia.gov/downloadable-data.

The DCSD schools highlighted in yellow had a higher percentage of HOPE eligible students than the State of Georgia percentage of HOPE Eligible students.  Cross Keys High School scored a higher percentage of HOPE Eligible students over DCSD students as a whole.

As far as % HOPE Eligible, Dunwoody High School came in 34th out of 458 statewide schools listed.  Chamblee Charter High School came in 64th out of 458 statewide schools listed.

The data for the 2018-2019 school year should be available sometime in the December 2019 timeframe.

  1. Thanks for posting this.

Observations about DCSD high schools that exceed the State and DCSD % HOPE Eligible levels:
    - All Region 2 high schools exceed State and DCSD levels
    - Two of the Three Region 1 high schools exceed State levels
    - All Region 1 high schools exceed District levels
    - The only other DCSD high schools that exceed State levels have very tight admission requirements (DSA, DECA, Arabia Mountain)as well as continuation requirements
    - Clarkston High School almost meets DCSD levels, despite having 50% Limited English Proficiency and 100% Free/Reduced Lunch rate

It would be interesting to match the % HOPE Eligible percentages with the % of graduates who enter Georgia colleges and require remedial English or Math classes.

  2. You have a good point concerning remediation. That data can also be found on the Data Dashboards accessed from the GOSA site: https://hsgrad.gosa.ga.gov/

2016 is the latest data available. This data indicates that 8.6% of Chamblee graduates required remediation in Math and 3.3% required remediation in English. The data indicates that 17.4% of Dunwoody graduates required remediation in Math and 8.1% required remediation in English.
